Real Estate Inventory, New Luxury Amenities Have Scrub Island Resort Poised for 2020 Season
BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (Nov. 12, 2019) – The AAA Four Diamond Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina in the British Virgin Islands has made a successful comeback following the damage and financial uncertainty caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017. The significant turnaround is due in large part to the $41 million investment by new principal lender The Ardent Companies earlier this year, which triggered expanded real estate offerings and new luxury amenities. Coupled with significant improvements to the resort, substantial new investment throughout the BVI and Scrub’s new partnership with Coldwell Banker BVI, the resort is well positioned for the 2020 season. Mainsail Lodging & Development operates the resort as a member of Marriott International’s industry-leading Autograph Collection® portfolio.
“Scrub Island has been our passion project for well over a decade and is now on solid financial ground thanks to The Ardent Companies,” said Joe Collier, president of Mainsail Lodging & Development. “With new available capital and our relationship with Coldwell Banker BVI, Scrub Island is primed to offer guests outstanding real estate offerings and amenities befitting this boutique private island resort.”
Since the new Ardent and Coldwell partnerships were announced in early 2019, a number of improvements have been made to the resort’s 52 rooms and suites, and a collection of five luxury villas have been made available for purchase. With sweeping views of the Caribbean’s turquoise waters and surrounding islands, these private villa estates range from two to six bedrooms and offer between 3,000 and more than 6,000 square feet of luxurious space.
Perched atop one of the highest points on Scrub Island, the grandest villa in the collection is The Spinnaker House, a lavish six-bedroom, six-bath estate featuring stunning southward Caribbean views across the channel to Marina Cay and Tortola, listed for $5 million. Brushed by the steady breeze of the trade winds, The Drake House is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom villa on the southern tip of the island, listed for $4.5 million. The other four-bedroom villa is The Reef House, listed for $4 million and overlooking one of the largest reefs of Scrub Island.
For a more intimate retreat, buyers can choose between two exceptional three-bedroom villas – The Shoreline House and The Leeward House. One of the island’s most secluded villas, The Leeward House offers a bird’s-eye view of North Beach during the day and fantastic stargazing by night. The Leeward House is offered at $3.6 million and will make its debut later in 2020. Boasting close proximity to the water’s edge and the award-winning Ixora Spa, The Shoreline House will also be unveiled later in 2020 and is priced at $3.5 million.
Each luxury villa features large balconies and terraces as well as Subzero and Wolf appliances, enclosed rain showers and infinity-edge or plunge pools. Hirsch Bedner Associates designed the interiors of the Hillside Villas with dark woods and light walls to convey a British West Indies inspiration. The villas also feature local artwork, custom furnishings, king-size beds with luxury linens, bamboo ceiling fans and flat panel televisions. Large sliding windows and doors when fully open invite the balmy trade winds and display unobstructed views. Each bathroom is grand in size and splendor, with natural stone flooring, granite-top twin-vanity, rainforest showerhead, water closet and a soaking tub. Exteriors of each villa, designed by architectural design firm OBMI, speak to a British Colonial-style with distinct touches of Caribbean in a village-inspired setting.
Two-bedroom Marina Village condominiums (starting at $895,000) and vacant lots are also available for purchase on Scrub Island. In addition to the luxurious accommodation offerings, guests will also appreciate access to the fully-renovated, 55-slip marina surrounded by the restaurants and shops of Marina Village, including Cardamom & Co., Donovan’s Reef, Boaters Republic boutique, a 24-hour Fitness Center, Scrub Island Outpost for provisions, and more.
